ACTIVITIES IN KOH PHANGAN
If you are staying in a luxury villa, you may well not want to leave the comfort of your lounger for the duration of your holiday. However, if you are feeling a bit more active there are plenty of things to keep you occupied during your stay in Koh Phangan.
There are numerous boat trips around the island departing from many of the beaches. You can either take a more traditional long-tail boat or you can hire a speed boat for a luxury trip around the island. You can also hire jet skis which is a fun way to tour around the whole island for a day. There are lots of tour operators offering day trips to the nearby Angthong Marine park.
There are plenty of amazing snorkelling spots in Koh Phangan, particularly in Had Son and Koh Ma where you can see some spectacular fish.
There are numerous diving schools on the island and lots of opportunities for both beginners to learn and more experienced divers to see the vibrant coral reef on the West coast. Many of the dive schools will pick you up from your villa and drop you off at your villa afterwards.
There is a newly opened golf course in Koh Phangan with a mini golf course for the children.
If you fancy going for a bike ride, there are several places to hire mountain bikes. There is also a company which runs guided bike tours which is a great way to see the island.
There are plenty of kite-surfing schools in Koh Phangan where you can learn to kitesurf on some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. There are also wakeboarding schools and places to learn Stand-up Paddle-boarding (SUP).
There is a canopy adventure on the road to Thong Nai Pan which has cable walkways and zip lines through the trees which is an exhilarating adventure not to be missed. There is also the newly opened water park ‘Slip N Fly’ which has two radical water slides and a smaller slide for the younger dare-devils.
There are plenty of waterfalls to visit on the island, which are particularly spectacular during rainy season (November).
If you fancy learning how to cook Thai food during your stay, there are plenty of cookery courses in Koh Phangan.
Koh Phangan is something of a yoga mecca attracting some of the world’s yoga gurus. You will be spoilt for choice in terms of classes and types of yoga on offer including ashtanga, vinyasa and hatha. There are drop in classes daily or longer residential courses. Also there are a large number of meditation, detox and self-healing courses in Koh Phangan.
